Also meant to say. I don't disagree with you. I suppose it would be nice if the castle could be incorporated somewhere.

I am saying I understand the logic behind removing the castle and personally am not bothered. I like our new badge.

The Hammers are our badge. We were formed from Thames Ironworks. So whether we play at the OS or Timbuktu we will always have the hammers.

The castle represented the Boleyn which about location. Our location at the time. We aren't there anymore so the castle goes. It makes sense.

The white rose going from the Leeds badge has made them feel like we would if the hammers went.

I don't like it at all because one day she will have nothing more to do with the club. How dare she change a badge in search of profits.

Modern football is absolutely shit and as far as I'm concerned my club is all but dead now. Killed by capitalists.

Re: Leeds United's new badge
Although I'm no fan of Brady I think you're being a bit over dramatic there gentile. All clubs update their badges to make them more appealing to the tv fans.

Whether you like it or not football now is more about the tv fans than us lot.

Re: Leeds United's new badge
Karen had the badge changed to generate new fans abroad that would hopefully buy merchandise online.

It was part of her rebranding and she couldn't care less if she removes links to our past in the process.

You have to ask yourself, what is the point of changing a club badge that has been an identity marker for the club for decades.

The woman will forever go down in our history as someone who systematically eroded our football club in the hunt for more profit.

She should have no place in football.

Re: Leeds United's new badge
We have had badges without the Castle before so it does make sense to drop it but there is indeed history there. For those who haven't seen images, have a look at some of the work by Del Deacon on Twitter. He has managed to propose images which look like the new badge but have a feint version of the castle - almost 'ghost' like as a nod to the past - personally like that.

As for Leeds .. awful badge - off the scale !! .. well done to fans for protest

I agree that the stripped down design is better. I know I'm in a minority but I like the LONDON bit as well. It represents us overseas. We are a LONDON club. I like it.

Re: Leeds United's new badge
You have to balance history and design.

The castles (all versions) were a load of overfussy shit which detracted from the simplicity of the crossed Hammers.

Which don't need any words, let alone the patronising one that informs people that West Ham is in London.

I quite like the new West Ham badge.

If we stayed at the LS for a hundred years and it becomes something everyone thought was a cherished part of our history, there would be a case for incorporating it into the crest.

The main thing is, the crossed hammers represent our origin and should remain even if we are no longer iron working shipbuilders, and as the castle represents the Boleyn Ground, which was our home for just about all our history, it justifies being in our crest, even if we no longer play there.

I understand your point but I disagree - the crossed hammers are our badge, the castles where fine whilst we actually played at the Boleyn but aren't part of the badge.

By your logic at some point we'll have the hammers, the Boleyn and the LS on the badge

Lily Hammer, I totally agree, that’s what I said when the club gave the reason for removing the castle.

"They removed the castle as it represented the Boleyn and we aren't there anymore so fans realised it made sense."

You say that, but by the same logic, we are no longer iron working shipbuilders either, so the crossed hammers are no longer relevant.

In other words, the ironworks are a massive part of our history we all want to hold onto, and I can't see a good reason not to apply the same sentiment to the castle, which represents the BG, which is also a massive part of our hsitory.

To be fair. If our new badge had not had any crossed Hammers there would have been the same uproar.

They removed the castle as it represented the Boleyn and we aren't there anymore so fans realised it made sense.

But to remove the white rose is like removing our hammers and so you can see why they've gone mad.

Anyway last I heard is its been scrapped and they are going to start again and consult season ticket holders.
